Out of It’s Banks


The Bazile Creek enters the Missouri River near the headwaters of Lewis and Clark Lake. Tributaries such as the Bazile Creek are experiencing bed aggradation in which the bed is being built up with sediment. Now the creek is more susceptible to overflowing its banks and the ground is more saturated.

Mike Crosley who farms row crops and ranches cattle with his wife on the Santee Sioux Nation Reservation, tells us what is happening. He also serves as the land manager for the Santee Sioux Nation.
